The Pine Acres South Fuel Break Implimentation

The Amador Fire Safe Council worked with CALFIRE to complete the Pine Acres South Fuel Break. This fuel break encompasses some of the area that was affected by the Butte Fire. Work done on this fuel break prior to the fire helped to protect Amador County. The project includes a 300 foot wide shaded fuel break through public and private lands. The work for this project was completed by private contractors and the Pine Grove Youth Conservation Camp. Over 150 acres of ground work has been implemented by crews from the Pine Grove Youth Conservation Camp; making this not only an economical project but also helping to provide valuable on-the-ground training to the young men at this corrections camp. 2018 PG&E Community Fuel Break Project

The Amador Fire Safe Council recently completed a fuel break and ingress/egress project funding by PG&E. The project aim was to reduce hazardous fuels adjacent to roads (create fuel breaks), improve or create key evacuation corridors, improve access for firefighting equipment, and protect PG&E assets. The project focused on road edge clearing to create a fuel break and improve ingress and egress.

Work has been completed along Sandar Road, Sutter Highlands Drive and Meadow Lark Lane. A community fuel break was completed near Dusty Way, the first Amador County FireWise community. A fuel break was also completed on the historic Kennedy Mine property in partnership with the Kennedy Mine Foundation.
